Cara is now 14 years old. Her life began on the streets of Bosnia. She gave birth to many litters of puppies who were all doomed until a young animal lover intervened and got her spayed. That animal lover continued to keep her fed while living on the streets, despite her own hardships. Then she moved away and Cara was dependent on help from the neighbourhood. One day she was taken by dog catchers who dumped her in a terrible pound in Bosnia, notorious for starving dogs or leaving them to be killed by other dogs.
That young animal lover was now in Serbia helping many other animals as the Balkan head of Kiki's Hope for Animals. Once we heard of Cara's plight we took urgent measures to save her from the pound and move her to Serbia. She's been with us ever since. There were promises of people wanting to adopt her but the cruel truth is, no one wants an old dog that's going to cause them big vet's bills. She remains with us....
